The Payload Systems Team at HawkEye 360 is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain Python-based test frameworks for our spacecraft payloads and bus systems. In this role, you will unify testing efforts across multiple phases — from assembly and integration to regression testing for new features and bug fixes — ensuring our space systems meet mission-critical performance and reliability requirements.

As the Senior Software Engineer – Payload Test Automation, your main responsibilities will be:

• Designing and implementing Python-based test frameworks to support spacecraft payload and bus validation.
• Unifying and maintaining test procedures across multiple payload generations and platforms.
• Running tests during spacecraft assembly, integration, and acceptance, as well as ongoing regression testing for flight software and hardware changes.
• Collaborating with hardware, software, and systems engineers to troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve issues found during testing.
• Automating data collection, analysis, and reporting to drive faster, data-driven decision making.

Your skills and qualifications:
Essential education and experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience developing test frameworks in Python for complex hardware/software systems.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented Python, automated test design, and integration with CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience testing embedded or aerospace systems is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate across disciplines.

Base Salary Range: $130,000 - $170,000 annually
