HawkEye 360 is currently seeking a Software Engineer to join the Space Team. The mission of the Space Team is to build, test, launch, operate and maintain a constellation of company owned commercial satellites. This group is also responsible for developing and operating a segment of groundstations to provide communications with these satellites. Satellite clusters and ground segments provide the platform for RF data collection that is essential to HawkEye’s core business. 

HawkEye 360 is looking for a python developer with good problem-solving skills, who is creative and has a passion for working with and developing new innovative technology for the space industry.

• Develop software for our ground-station and satellite operation infrastructure with a strong focus on automating mission operations 
• Help design new ground-station infrastructure to include building and testing client-server applications and designing REST APIs.
• Manually perform mission planning and mission operations while building out the automated system. 
• Test and debug existing applications when issues arise.
• Develop unit tests, and full-system integration tests for entire ground-station infrastructure. 

Your skills and qualifications:
Education and experience:

• 4+ years professional engineering experience 
• 1+ years of experience with Python programming. 
• Experience building mission-critical applications and supporting remote hardware. 
• Experience building REST API’s using frameworks like Flask/FastAPI 
• Experience with version control such as git. 

• A passion for completing a job well - Attention to detail 
• A good attitude and team-oriented spirit 

Desirable:

• Experience with AWS or other cloud providers, or experience with Docker and Kubernetes. 
• Experience developing web UI’s with Angular or React. 
• Experience with IP networking and routing, and socket programming 
• Experience with flight dynamics, orbit and mission planning. 
• Experience in a fast-paced, small company where priorities can change rapidly
