Description
HawkEye 360 (HE360) is seeking a versatile, detail-oriented Satellite Embedded Engineer to join the Space team in Herndon, Virginia. As a Satellite Embedded Engineer, you will be expected to bring a strong technical skill set to develop spacecraft flight software on embedded Linux and RTOS platforms. Working in a dynamic, fast-paced, development environment, you will work on the on-board computer and subsystem software that powers our RF collection constellation.

As the Senior Satellite Embedded Engineer, your main responsibilities will be:
- Developing spacecraft flight software in C to enable communications, operations, telemetry collection, and fault protection.
- Developing Python and C applications for ground support equipment or command and control.
- Providing software support during hardware integration and test.
- Building and using tools to analyze data collected both on-orbit and in ground testing.
- Optimizing system performance and resource utilization for Low-SWaP (Size, Weight, and Power) platforms.
Essential education and experience:
- A passion for problem-solving, relentless attention to detail, and the ability to learn quickly on the job and operate effectively in ambiguous situations with minimal oversight.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- B.S. degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering.
- Experience with C, Python, Bash, and Git.
- Experience with Linux and RTOS-based embedded systems
- Experience with embedded communications protocols such as CAN, I2C, SPI, and/or RS422.
- Experience with Continuous Integration services such as GitLab CI.
- Familiarity with bare metal microprocessors and Zephyr RTOS.
- Familiarity with embedded Linux for ARM with Open Embedded (Yocto).
- Familiarity with System-on-Chip architectures such as the Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC or zynq-7000.
- Experience with RF systems such as antennas and software-defined radios.
- Familiarity with spacecraft operations, satellite command, and telemetry.
- Experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, and spectrum analyzers.
